How much time to spend with BF?

Thursday October 19, 2006
Ettenn wonders: “I am struggling to decide how much time I should allow my DD to spend with her boyfriend, and what guidelines I should set. She knows that I want his parents to be home when she visits him. She and he know that I don't approve of sex outside of marriage. (She says she agrees and that they have agreed to stop.) She calls to let me know where she is and when she changes location. And she has a curfew of 11pm on weekends with occasional exceptions.

She would see him every night if she could. I try to limit it to once during the week with an earlier curfew and twice on the weekend, although I haven't made this a rule because I want to remain flexible. There have been times that she has seen him during the week and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was barely home...

My DD is a Junior so she will be home for another year and a half. I don't want to be unreasonable, but feel that I still have a responsibility to set guidelines and that I should have some contact with him and them together. I'd like to know how others have handled similar situations.” Read the whole thread and offer your advice here.
