How About the Military?

Friday January 5, 2007
kbengt asks: "Hi, anyone have any comments or advice on this one. We have a 19 yr. old daughter who has done very poor after 3 semesters of college. She was a 3.62 in High School gpa and is barely pulling a 1 now in college. She has already transfered once and says she is going to class but we know better. We know she parties alot and has a disrespectful and carefree attitude. We also know she is a dancer and we found a pot pipe in her car. We plan to approach her now with only two options: go to counceling and rehab for drug or alcohol addiction or go to the military and get on track. Your thoughts anyone, please help, its stressful on the marriage too."

I can’t think of a worse possible time to suggest a military career to a child. There are always more than 2 options – maybe you could try finding her a counselor through college or local community?
