Look for the Anti-Drug Super Bowl Ads
Saturday February 2, 2008
The Office of National Drug Control Policy, ONDCP, has launched a campaign to educate parents about teen prescription drug abuse. They are starting off this weekend with two different Super Bowl ads that you can use as ice breakers for talks with your teen. Here are a few fast facts about teen prescription drug abuse:
- More teens abuse prescription drugs than any illicit drug except marijuana.
- In 2006, more than 2.1 million teens ages 12 to 17 reported abusing prescription drugs.
- Among 12- and 13-year-olds, prescription drugs are the drug of choice.

Its about time. I wish they would stop showing beer commercials as well. Alcoholism is another factor that a lot of kids and teenagers are picking up on. They’ve banned cigarettes ads…they should do the same for alcohol.
Well, even though my Pats lost, I did enjoy seeing this commerical. I made everyone in the room listen closely. Here’s to seeing many more of these types of ads.
