Employment for Teens Hits Lowest Point in Decades

Monday June 2, 2008
An article from the states: 'An annual study released by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University found that the teen employment rate for the first quarter of 2008 was the lowest it's been in the 60 years that teen employment data has been recorded.' The article goes on to say that teens need a strong work environment to find work because employers need to be looking for more than the long-term employee in order to hire a teen for the summer. It makes sense.

Poll: Has your teen or college student had a problem finding a job this summer?

(1) Bill says:

In the past there was a small portion of my profits put aside for summer jobs, with the way the economy has plummited to a down hill spiral most business profits are down in large # of %’s. The cost of raw materials, fuel, Healthcare has steadly increase by the days, weeks and months. That is why most business’s can’t offer a summer job to students, there is just no way that we can take that chance. we have to take any portion of profits that we gain and bank them because you don’t know from one day to the next what you cost of goods and operation will be. It is scary as a business man to be seeing this happen and it saddens me.The strongest most powerful nation will not take control of this situation.
I talk to my 13 year daughter about my business and she hit the nail on the head one day and said the world is a vampire.
