Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner - summer is beginning! This is a time when many 12, 13 and 14-year-olds begin pleading with their moms about being allow to shave their legs, underarms and/or bikini area. Many moms of my generation feel that this is a right of passage or a milestone to be given when we think our daughters are 'old enough'. After spending so many years raising teen girls, I've changed my opinion on this issue. If a young preteen would like to shave because of peer pressure and she is taking hits to her body image and self-esteem, I say by all means, teach her to shave. Agree or disagree? Leave a comment.

my son is 14 going to be 15 and he has the same thing. i say leave it up to him. my son doesnt want to shave yet. i have let him make his own choice. since he doesnt have a father, maybe taking him to a barber shop or hair salon where they can show him the proper way to shave. hope this helps.

For boys, it can very quite a bit. I have two brothers and we all started shaving at different ages. I’m the eldest and I started around 15. The middle brother started sometime around 19 or 20 and the youngest was saving his entire face at 11 (and no, that’s not a type-o; he was eleven years old). A can’t say when our sister started, though.
