Money Saving Tips: How to Save Money on Halloween Costumes

I find saving money on a costume for Halloween very easy - just don't spend any! We never did when we were teens in our home, simply 'went shopping' in your own closet plus your siblings closet, your friend's closets and your mom's makeup bag. Here are three quick ideas using what I just saw in my daughter's closet:
  • Prom Queen - use her old prom dress, shoes and a tiara from her little sister's toys.
  • Housewife - robe, slippers and hot rollers.
  • Farm girl - pigtails and freckles, plaid shirt, straw and jeans.
For Boys:
  • Mechanic - work overalls, carrying a big wrench.
  • Dead football(or some other sport) player- Uniform, white face makeup and darken the eyes.
  • Woman - robe, curlers with a scarf wrapped around them on his head and makeup.

Another great way to save on Halloween costumes is by using online deals. Group-buying and daily deal sites have been offering huge discounts on all kinds of Halloween costumes, so you should try to take advantage of these deals ASAP!

Yes, nora. I also think that it is necessary to pay a special attention to such things as discount coupons. Many shops prefer to provide specials before Halloween, so buyers have a splendid opportunity to purchase a product at discounted price.

You can also Google for ideas, particularly about make-up. A friend of mine shot a very short horror film and used Google to find “how to” videos for doing make-up for zombies, werewolves, etc. You may still have to put some money into the make-up, but people can do at home projects like this for next to nothing (and look great), compared to what costume rentals go for.
