This dance is very well known and young teens love to do it.For extra fun, try it on roller skates!
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 30 minutes
Here's How:
- Have everyone form a large circle giving each other a little shoulder room.
- While singing the hokey pokey song, do the actions. The song is the same as the actions.
- 'You put your left foot in' - means put it into the circle of people.
- 'You put your left foot out' - means putting it out of the circle, almost behind you.
- 'You put your left foot in' (see #3) 'and you shake it all about.'
- 'You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around.' The hokey pokey is putting hands up above your shoulders and waving them, you do this while turning in a circle.
- Then you clap as you sing 'that's what it's all about!'
- After finishing all body parts, the people in the circle link together by placing their arms over the shoulders of the people next to them.
- Then as you sing 'do the hokey pokey' over and over again, the whole group turns in a circle.
Tips:
- This is a lot of fun for all ages! Just make sure you bring some sense of humor with you to the circle.
- Do you feel you have open communication with your teen?
