Signs of Inhalant Abuse

Though there are literally thousands of chemicals that can be abused as inhalants, there are many common signs of abuse. Some symptoms to look for include:

  • Chemical odors on breath or clothing
  • Paint or other stains on the face, hands, or clothes
  • Drunk or disoriented appearance
  • Slurred speech
  • Inattentiveness
  • Lack of coordination
  • Hidden empty spray paint, solvent containers, nitrous oxide containers
  • Unexplained chemical soaked rags or clothing
