I have only one child that has reached the teenage years out of three children. I have seen friends come over that have had mild piercing. I think the nose and tounge are the worst place just for sanitary reasons. But I have laid down the law to my teen, no holes, no where and under no condition. I feel like once they are out of my house then they have the rest of their lives to have that done. - Karen Miller

There's a song out in Christian music by a group called Considering Lily. The song is called Beautiful You. It's about all the nutty things teens do to try and define who they are but about how Jesus accepts them, warts and all. I don't know what I'd do if my daughter came home with a weird piercing- probably try not to say much because the less I like it, the more she thinks it's too cool!! Also, it would depend on what went with the piercing- personality changes, etc., then I would be more concerned. - Bubbie

I wasn't too upset when my seventeen year old daughter came home with her top of her ear pierced, but then her girlfriend got her tongue done, I told my daughter not to even think of it, that looked awful. I in, how do those kids EAT with that thing in their mouths??? - delta

If my 14 yr old came home with a body part pierced, the first thing I would want to know is who pierced her without my permission. Granted, piercing is not like being tatooed/ but can someone in a mall or some shop pierce a minor without a parent present? - key
