A form of self-harm in which a teen cuts or scratches themselves with a sharp object like a knife or a fingernail, deep enough that it bleeds. Teens will cut themselves on their wrists, arms, legs or bellies - places where they can hide the scars that will form. Cutting is a problem that stems from a teen trying to deal with the stress
of an emotional issue. Parents of teens and teens should not try to fix their cutting problem themselves, as professional help
is needed to get to the root of the reason why the teen is cutting.
