Make a School Spirit or Graduation Tassel Key Chain

By Denise Witmer, About.com

tassel key chain craft for teensDenise D. Witmer
A graduation or school craft you can use as parting gifts for friends, as a show of school spirit or for party favors.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 30 minutes
Here's How:
  1. Wrap your first color of lanyard around the index card 15 times. Cut the one side so that you have fifteen 8-inch pieces.

  2. Wrap your second color of lanyard around the index card 15 times. Cut the one side so that you have fifteen 8-inch pieces.

  3. Cut one 15-inch piece of one of the colors.

  4. Grab all of your pieces and evenly thread them all through your keychain. Fold them in half, so that the key chain ring is in the center of your strands.

  5. Wrap the long 15-inch piece around the strands three times, just at the bottom of where the key chain is. Tie off. (see picture)

  6. On the ends of the long strands, tie beads. Trim the ends.

  7. Trim any stragglers off the tassel.

Tips:
  1. Variation: tie on the year of the class in beads or use a school sports charm.

  2. I've seen this craft done with both the floss and the lanyard. The floss looks classier, but doesn't last as long.
