Love beads were worn by hippies in the 1960s, both boys and girls. The necklaces are long handmade strands of love beads strung haphazardly and worn singularly or in bunches. This simple craft can be made by older kids and teens to wear or to trade.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: one hour
Here's How:
- Knot a bead on the end of the cord to keep beads from falling off as you are stringing them.
- String 36 inches of beads.
- Remove the end bead and tie the ends together in a square knot.
- Glue the knot and allow to dry. Tuck the ends of the cord into the beads.
Tips:
- Use paper plates to hold the beads before they are strung, giving each kid a plate to use.
