Question: How much privacy does my teen and his date need?
Answer: When your teen is old enough to have one-to-one dates, they will of course expect a little privacy. This does not mean you have to offer them the family room for hours to watch movies. Allowing your teen to walk their date out to the car, or hang out in a public room by themselves while having some chaperoning is respectful and enough privacy.
If your teen objects to not having enough privacy with his date, it's time to talk to him about what you expect to be appropriate behavior in your home and work on a compromise that will make you both feel comfortable.
