Madame Amelia Bones was found dead locked in her apartment. It is mentioned that she was a strong witch. Her position at the Ministry of Magic as head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, suggests that she was an accomplished witch. This isn't someone that the loser Death Eaters are going to be able to kill. It had to have been the Dark Lord.

But, why? Well I think he is doing the same thing that Harry will set out to do in Harry Potter book 7, the Deathly Hallows. They are looking for the Horcruxes. I do not think that the Dark Lord knows where they are. At least some of them, like the cup. That is the horcrux that Amelia must have had. I have to wonder if she knew what it had been turned into by Dumbledore. I do not believe that Voldemort found it yet.
