Cleaning Their Room

Previous Parenting Tip| Parenting Tip Index | Next Parenting Tip

You should require your teenager to maintain their living space at least once a week. In other words, they should be doing a weekly room cleaning. By the time your child is 13, they are capable of handling this responsibility. Once a week your teen should change their sheets, vacuum, dust, take out the trash, and straighten their rooms. It is a good idea to make the time consistent week-to-week. While you don’t want to have your expectations too high, aka the room doesn’t need to be spotless, you will want to make sure that it is habitable for humans.
