Ingredients:
- White Cake Mix
- 1 4-cup pkg. Gelatin; first school or team color
- Whipped Cream or Ready Made Frosting; white
- Food Coloring; second school or team color
- Sugar Sprinkles; school colors
Preparation:
Make cake as a layer cake according to package directions. Allow to cool for 30-minutes. Prepare the gelatin according to the package, but leave the liquid in a bowl. Poke holes in the cake with a large serving fork at 1/2-inch intervals. Pour the gelatin over the holes, slowly. Try not to cover the entire cake, just the holes. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Prepare the whipped cream or the icing. For the whipped cream, add a couple of drops of food coloring and mix well before spreading on the cake. For the icing, microwave to soften, about 3 minutes on medium high, then add food coloring. Mix well. The trick to frosting this cake is to soften the icing so that you do not have to spread it too much, as the top of the cake will flake. Sprinkle with the colored sugars.
