Did you know that there are reasons you pick the people you date? And we're not just talking about your dates owning a car or being the best looking in your class! Although, those are status symbols which are part of our culture. If you study why those symbols are so important to our culture, when they started and what status symbols are important in other cultures, then you're studying anthropology. Sounds to me like you could impress your friends with this science project.

Project Ideas:

  1. What are your dating rituals? Find the dating rituals of three different cultures. Compare them with your own. How are they the same? How are they different?
  2. Make up a survey for you and your friends. Ask them what type of people they are attracted to. What color hair? eyes? personality? Do they find the latest fad attractive?(pierced tongues would work well now) Now ask the same questions to an older set of people, for example, your parents. Are the answers different? How does culture change with generations? How does it stay the same?
