Parenting Tips - Teen Health

Before Every Orthodontic Appointment

By Denise Witmer, About.com

Before going to the orthodontist for a regular adjustment of their braces, give your child some non-aspirin pain reliever. This will help with the discomfort they have and may even help to keep it away completely.

Keeping a chap stick in the glove compartment of the car is also a good idea. Have your child apply it to keep their lips from getting chapped when their braces are being worked on. Allow your teen to carry into the appointment and then return it to the glove compartment for the next appointment.
