Name of Your Blog

Hollywood Mom Blog

Why did you start blogging?

I started Hollywood Mom Blog when my tween daughter began pursuing acting professionally and I wanted to share our experiences with other families. This quickly evolved into posting several times a week on news items also. I've interviewed child stars, their parents and former child stars which will be added to the blog as well. It's been a rewarding experience because the blog fills a need parents, kids and teens have to learn about working in the entertainment industry in a casual, frank manner.

How do you choose your blog topics?

I post on whatever is topical - current audition notices, programs, awards, classes, child stars or former child stars in the headlines, news about momagers & popagers of these celeb kids, etc. and I mix in posts about what we have going on personally with acting - struggles, accomplishments, referrals to head shot photographers, agent recommendations, marketing tips and pros/cons of websites for child actors - everything relevant to kids wanting to launch their professional acting careers.

Advice

  • Stay Committed! Blogging several times a week improves the blog and your writing skills.
  • Link up! Other blogs in your genre are probably very willing to exchange links with you - it's a great way to spread the word about your blog with interested readers.
  • Tweet! Twitter is essential for all bloggers. When I have something to say that doesn't warrant an entire post or is more urgent in nature - I tweet it. All my tweets are also posted at the top of my blog.
  • Be Nice! I always stay positive in my blog - even when reporting bad or controversial news. No Bashing allowed. =)
