This Girl Scout Patch activity involves remembering Girl Scouting traditions and demonstrating that you know them. You will need no supplies and this can be easily done at any time.
  1. Ask everyone to show you the Girl Scout Sign. The Girl Scout sign is made by raising three fingers of the right hand and holding down your pinky with your thumb.
  2. Have the girls turn to the person next to them and demonstrate the Girl Scout Handshake. You shake hands with the left hand as you give the Girl Scout sign with your right hand.
  3. Ask everyone if they know the quiet sign and to demonstrate it. The quiet sign is made by raising your hand and shutting your mouth ;-)
  4. Ask the girls if they know the Girl Scout motto. The motto is "Be prepared."
  5. Ask the girls if they know the Girl Scout slogan. The slogan is "Do a good turn daily."
  6. Form a friendship circle by crossing your right arm over your left arm and holding hands. Sing a traditional Girl Scout song like 'Make New Friends'. End the circle with a friendship squeeze. A friendship squeeze is done by one person squeezing the hand of the person next to them and then that person doing the same until it gets all the way around the circle.

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15 minutes
