Hermione Granger is a muggle born young witch who becomes close friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasly. She is an excellent student and often finds answers to Harry's questions by looking them up in a book. Her parents are dentists and have no magical blood in them what-so-ever. This leads to name calling, Draco Malfoy calls her a mudblood, and one of the main controversies in the book ~ prejudice against those who aren't of pure wizardry blood.
