The Earth and Venus are actually close to each other in size and mass, to the point that they have been called sister planets. Their atmospheres, however, are completely different, perhaps having to do with Venus' year being shorter than its day (it takes less time for Venus to go once around the Sun then it does to turn once around on its axis).

Project Ideas:

  1. Build a scale model of our solar system.
  2. Explain the forces at work when the Venus orbits the sun. What keeps it in place? Is it moving further away?
  3. Study pictures.
  4. What are the features of this planet? Could they support some kind of life? Why or why not?
